Garim privacy policy
Effective 19 October 2026
Short version: Garim does not collect, send, sell or share any personal data. Everything it does happens inside your browser, and the only things it saves are your own settings, on your own computer.
Who we are
Garim is a Chrome extension made by Guud (구드), a sole proprietorship registered in the Republic of Korea (owner Bonseung Gu, business registration no. 683-42-01672, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do). Contact: hello@guudgood.com.
What Garim does with page content
To hide sensitive information, Garim reads the text of the web pages you choose to protect and changes how that text is displayed in your tab (blurred, or replaced with a fake value). This happens entirely on your device. Page content is never stored, logged, or sent to us or anyone else. Fake values are calculated on the fly and are not saved.
What Garim stores
Garim saves the following in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your computer only. It is not synced to your Google account and we cannot see it.
| Item | Why |
|---|---|
| On/off switch, blur or fake mode, which detectors are on | To remember your choices |
| Keywords and regular expressions you add | To hide the words you asked it to hide |
| Elements you picked with Alt+B, saved as CSS selectors per site (not the text inside them) | To hide them again next time |
| Sites where you turned on “Always protect this site” | To start protection as soon as those sites load |
Keywords you type may themselves be sensitive (for example a client's name). They stay on your computer. Uninstalling Garim deletes all of this data.
What Garim does not do
- No network requests to our servers or any third party. Garim has no server.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising or fingerprinting.
- No account or sign-in.
- No AI or cloud processing.
- No sale or transfer of data, and no use of data for creditworthiness or lending.
Permissions
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
storage | Saving your settings locally, as listed above |
activeTab, scripting | Running Garim in the current tab when you click “Protect this tab now” or use a shortcut |
| Site access (optional, per site) | Requested only when you turn on “Always protect this site”, so Garim can start before the page appears. You can remove it at any time in Chrome's extension settings. |
Chrome Web Store user data policy
Garim's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Because no data leaves your device, none is transferred to us or anyone else.
Paid features
If we add a paid Pro tier, payment will be handled by a separate payment provider and this policy will be updated before that launches to describe exactly what is shared with it.
Children
Garim is a work tool and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
